The following are recommendations from Donna, our shoe specialist extrordinaire!
Top Shoe:The Duchess. The Duchess styles are supportive, comfortable and seem to fit a range of different foot types. Several of our customers return to buy that style over and over again in different colors and fabrics. The Duchess AS in Black Suede was worn by the lead in the San Francisco Ballet. The Duchess OB was worn by Vanessa Williams in the movie "Dance With Me".
Flexi or Non-Flexi?The new "Flex-Sole" was designed for dancers who need to point their toe and need a more flexible sole. This new sole has a shorter shank support which allows the sole to flex. Good for competitions. For a beginner who is still working on the basics, or an instructor who needs to dance in their shoes for hours at a time, go with the regular sole with the full shank support instead. By the end of the day, your feet will be happier.
Favorite Practice ShoesThe Godivas, hands down! These are my favorite shoes in the world. I can't say enough about the Godivas. Even with a foot injury, and my foot wrapped in an ace bandage, I was able to get this shoe on and go to a dance lesson! The lace up front allows the shoe to mold to your foot, no matter how wide it is. Whenever people come to our showroom and try a pair on, they can't leave without them. I wear the Godiva CB, however there are several different versions of this shoe and they are all extremely comfortable. The mesh on the sides gives this shoe a certain sexiness as well! Perfect for teaching in.
